The Mural Shop is North Carolina’s premier mural studio, specializing in the painting, installation, and restoration of large-scale murals, signs and graphics.

Scott Nurkin attended the Lorenzo di Medici School of Art in Florence, Italy and graduated with a BFA degree in painting and drawing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, Scott began a 3-year apprenticeship with master-muralist Michael Brown at Brown Fine Art Studios in Carrboro, NC.

In 2004, Scott founded The Mural Shop to provide a multitude of professional artistic services including illustration, fine art, graphic design, custom and vintage signage, and most of all, murals. Since then he has created hundreds of murals and illustrations for a broad clientele ranging from homeowners to professional sports teams.

"Scott does a remarkable job of understanding his clients and their vision. If a client hasn't developed a vision, Scott is excellent at helping flesh out what's practical and aesthetic. I highly recommend him and his work."

Adam Riggsbee, Riverbank Ecosystems
"Not only is Scott Nurkin an amazing painter, muralist and all around inspiring artist, he's also a super guy with a great sense of humor. A true pleasure to work with. I have commissioned several paintings from him and my only regret is that I don't have more wall space to have him make 10 more."

Zeb Holt, Director, Technology Development, NBCUnivers
"It is a tremendous pleasure to recommend Scott Nurkin and his outstanding artistic skills as a muralist and painter. He is very friendly and easy to work with, has good business sense, and provides excellent results for very fair rates. Scott has the unique ability to understand exactly what his client's vision is and expertly reproduce it ... on time."

Courntey Best, High Point Regional Hospital
"My wife and I hired Scott to paint our daughter's nursery and we requested a safari theme. Scott spent some time talking to us and quickly understood that we were seeking something understated but with some depth. He spent two days in the nursery and the final result was amazing. He was worth every penny and we would hire him again in an instant."

The Mural Shop prices are based on size and scope.  A large mural with little detail can cost the same as a small mural with lots of intricacies.  It is my goal to create a distinctive mural that meets creative and budgetary needs of each individual client.
